Wie

Wie-IST (Women in engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico) is a non-profit affinity group of the IEEE-IST Student Branch. This project was officially born on the 9th May 2011, from the initiative of a group of IST female engineering students.

Wie-IST’s main goal is to balance between male and female populations within engineering courses of study, which are currently a predominantly male population, as we believe that both can contribute significantly for future achievements and evolution in the field of engineering.

As a student branch, we mostly intend to develop programs and activities meant to promote the entry and retention of women in engineering and prepare current engineering students for an outstanding career.
