IEEE week 2016 was celebrated from October 3rd to October 6th. With a week full of activities~, EMBS Student Chapter decided to end up this week with an inspiring talk named “IEEE’s role in my career”. The main goal of this activity was to demonstrate to all IEEE members the benefits of being part of this organization. This talk was given by Miguel Amador, an Alumni student of Biomedical Engineering at Instituto Superior Técnico. With an informal conversation, Miguel told us how IEEE influenced his career and how it provided many opportunities for him to grow as a person and as an engineer. We also had a “coffee break” during the talk, to induce a relaxing environment. The feedback was extremely positive - the students felt extremely inspired by his testimony and absolutely loved the food.

From October 3rd to October 6th, IEEE week 2016 was celebrated for the first time in our faculty. In order to provide the student community with a fruitful and different afternoon, the EMBS and IAS Student Branch Chapters organized a Workshop about Proactivity and Entrepreneurship named “Mexe-te” (“Move Yourself!”).
This workshop was given by André Couceiro, a Partner’s Manager at Inspiring Future (a non-profit association, focused on developing innovative projects in the area of juvenile education).
Aimed at younger students, this workshop with full room was a fun way to discuss how to make the most out of the time we have every day and how to make an impression on someone, among other related subjects. The feedback received from the participants was highly positive, as they agreed they would recommend this workshop to others, and would like to be a part of similar initiatives in the future, since it was a useful and interactive activity.
